Vader is a Polish death metal band from Olsztyn, formed in 1983 by guitarist Zbigniew “Vika” Wróblewski and then-bassist Piotr “Peter” Wiwczarek, initially playing a style rooted in heavy and speed metal influenced by Judas Priest and Accept. In the second half of the 1980s the group gradually turned toward thrash and then death metal, and some sources note that Vader took shape in parallel with the very first global death metal pioneers such as Possessed and Death. The band’s early years were marked by underground demos and intensive touring behind the Iron Curtain, which made an early official album difficult despite the band’s rising profile in the scene. Vader was formed in the same year as early death metal pioneers Possessed and Death, which highlights how early the band entered the extreme metal field.
The group’s earliest material circulated mainly via cassette demos, and the full-length debut “The Ultimate Incantation” did not appear until nine years after formation.
Signing to UK label Earache Records made Vader one of the first extreme Polish bands to join a globally recognised metal imprint.
Nuclear Blast describes “Solitude in Madness” as the band’s sixteenth studio album, which, combined with heavy touring, illustrates an exceptional level of long-term productivity.
