Bez Cenzury
Bez Cenzury is a Warsaw based hip hop group that emerged from the Bielany, Ochota and Targówek street rap environment and became one of the key boombap acts on the Polish scene in the mid 2000s. The line up consists of rappers Ero, Łysol (often written as Łajzol) and Siwers, all strongly connected to the Bielany collective JWP and related crews, which has given the project a distinctly local Warsaw street identity from the very beginning. According to label and media materials, the group formed around 2005 as a result of friendships and collaborations built during the Kaligrafix event series at the C45 club in Bielany, where Eros, Łysol and Siwers naturally started recording together. Artist Trivia
- The name Bez Cenzury is often shortened to BC, and in this form it appears in fan communication and combined with JWP as JWPBC, reflecting the project’s tight integration with the wider collective.
- “Reprezentuję siebie”, the first video promoting “Klasyk”, was for almost 15 years the longest Polish rap music video, running for about 11 minutes and featuring 26 guests in a visual cypher of the era.
- The “Reprezentuję siebie” video was produced and directed by Michał “Ajron” Dąbal and Jan Kwieciński for EmbargoNagrania, linking the project with a strongly film oriented visual environment of that time.
- Press materials stress that Bez Cenzury grew out of the Kaligrafix events at the C45 club, which were among the key spaces for the development of Warsaw graffiti and hip hop culture.
