Ziyo

Ziyo was formed in Tarnów in 1986, although the group’s roots go back further because some of its musicians had already been playing together since 1984. Still, 1986 is the safest formal starting point, because that was the year of the band’s stage debut at Jarocin and its first major breakthrough in the festival circuit. The original lineup featured Jarosław Majka, Marek Kloch, Dariusz Derżko, Jerzy Durał and Krzysztof Krupa. Very quickly, Jerzy Durał became the central figure of the project, taking over as leader and vocalist after Jarocin while remaining the band’s lyric writer.
