Andrzej Nowak
Andrzej Nowak was one of the key guitarists in Polish rock and heavy metal, best known as a co-founder of TSA and later the leader of Złe Psy. Born in Opole, he built a reputation as a musician who combined guitar power, recognizable compositions, and a strong authorial identity across the projects he shaped. His career began no later than 1979, when he founded TSA with Tomasz Zatwarnicki, a band described in the sources as a pioneer of heavy metal in Poland. Artist Trivia
- The idea for Złe Psy was already taking shape during his stay in the United States, and the band’s name came both from his love of American pit bull terriers and from the nickname “bad dog” attached to him there.
- One of the first bass players in Złe Psy was Paweł Mąciwoda, later a member of Scorpions, whom Nowak had known since his time in the US.
- In 2012, Radio Opole refused to air the song “Urodziłem się w Polsce”, describing it as “non-media-friendly and chauvinistic”, which sparked a wider public debate about patriotic content in public radio.
- In 2013, boxer Artur Szpilka announced that “Urodziłem się w Polsce” would be his ring entrance song, giving the track an extra life outside the rock audience.
