Czarno-Czarni
Czarno-Czarni was formed in 1996 when members of Big Cyc recorded the song “Pasażer” with guest vocalist Jarek “Doktor” Janiszewski from the Gdańsk band Bielizna. Artist Trivia
- Czarno-Czarni was born out of a studio moment, when Jarek Janiszewski from Bielizna guested on Big Cyc’s “Pasażer” and the chemistry proved strong enough to create a separate band.
- The band’s name was a deliberate play on the tradition of Polish “color-name” big beat groups such as Czerwono-Czarni and Niebiesko-Czarni, so the project announced its retro-pastiche concept from the start.
- The 1998 debut album went platinum, while the singles “Nogi,” “Trąbo-Twist” and “Miłość i rtęć” quickly established the group as a mainstream success.
- Their first recordings were made using old Eastern Bloc instruments and amplifiers, with drums captured by only three microphones, a conscious move that helped shape the retro sound.
