Artist Trivia
- Ewa Bem is often referred to as the “first lady of Polish jazz,” and some sources even frame her place in Polish music through comparisons with Ella Fitzgerald.
- Before her solo identity fully matured, she sang in Zbigniew Seifert’s quartet, which connected her very early with an ambitious jazz environment.
- She founded the group Bemibek, later renamed Bemibem, and performed with it at international jazz festivals as well.
- Her repertoire was never limited to straight jazz, because the sources stress her ease in blues, bossa nova, swing and pop too.
