• Hańba! was conceived as a fictional street orchestra from interwar Poland, which set it apart from a standard folk-punk band and gave the whole project a distinctly literary and theatrical frame.
• The band was originally supposed to be called Luxtorpeda, but the final name “Hańba!” was taken from Jerzy Kawalerowicz’s film “Śmierć prezydenta.”
• Hańba!’s lyrics often draw directly on interwar poetry, including texts by Tuwim, Broniewski, Szenwald, Ginczanka and Brzechwa, making it one of the most literary projects on the contemporary Polish alternative scene.
• The group won the Paszport “Polityki” award for the album “Będą bić!”, and the jury stressed that Hańba! creatively refreshed both folk and punk while sharply describing present-day Polish conflicts and threats.
