Świetliki

Świetliki was formed in Kraków in October 1992 by Marcin Świetlicki together with musicians previously linked to Trupa Wertera Utrata. From the start, it stood apart from the mainstream by combining rock instrumentation with poetic writing, cold new-wave aesthetics and a highly distinctive vocal delivery. The key figure in the band is Marcin Świetlicki, a poet, vocalist and author of almost all of its lyrics. The group’s co-leader is Grzegorz Dyduch, while Marek Piotrowicz and Tomasz Radziszewski also form part of the long-standing core lineup present from the beginning. The first album, “Ogród koncentracyjny,” opened the way to broader recognition, and later releases established Świetliki as a cult band...
Artist Trivia
- Świetliki partly emerged from the Kraków group Trupa Wertera Utrata, so its origins were deeply rooted in a local literary and musical environment.
- The debut album “Ogród koncentracyjny” was recorded in 1993 but officially released in 1995, and it immediately drew attention from both the media and the public.
- The second album, “Cacy Cacy Fleischmaschine,” earned the band two Fryderyk nominations, showing that it quickly moved beyond a strictly underground niche.
- In 2005, the group recorded an album with Bogusław Linda, and “Filandia” became one of its most recognizable songs.
