Wacław Zimpel
Wacław Zimpel is one of the most versatile contemporary Polish musicians, combining the roles of clarinetist, composer, producer, and sonic experimenter. He was born on 27 July 1983 in Poznań and received classical training at the Academy of Music in Poznań and the Hochschule für Musik in Hanover. At the start of his career, he was associated mainly with free jazz and the improvised-music scene. He led or co-created projects such as Hera, The Light, Wacław Zimpel Quartet, Undivided, Four Walls, and later LAM and Saagara, and his name soon began appearing alongside important figures of the international avant-garde. What set him apart from the beginning, however, was that he never treated jazz as a closed...

- His music draws not only on jazz but also on Polish folk, klezmer, Middle Eastern, Indian, and Moroccan traditions.
