Janusz Szrom
Janusz Szrom is a Polish jazz singer, teacher, and music publicist who has long been strongly connected both to the stage and to music education. He was born on November 16, 1968 in Grodków, and his route to singing was unusual because he began with instruments rather than voice. He started his musical education with piano, later spent many years playing trumpet, and after finishing secondary music school also studied organ. He eventually entered the Jazz and Popular Music Department of the Academy of Music in Katowice, graduating in 1995. - Before becoming a singer, he first studied piano, then trumpet for many years, and later also organs.
- He graduated from the Jazz and Popular Music Department of the Academy of Music in Katowice, and later earned a doctorate, habilitation, and in 2023 the title of professor of the arts.
- In 2008 Michel Legrand invited him to perform “What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life” at the jubilee 50th Jazz Jamboree festival.
- From 2009 to 2014 he won the “Jazz Forum” poll for Jazz Vocalist of the Year six times in a row.
